Corrections policy
How we handle errors, updates, and corrections.
Our approach
We hold ourselves to a high standard of accuracy, but we're not infallible. When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly, transparently, and without fuss.
This policy covers all content published on MetalsAlpha, including news articles, guides, market reports, and dealer reviews.
Types of correction
Factual corrections
If an article contains a factual error — a wrong price, an incorrect statistic, a misattributed quote, or an inaccurate claim — we correct it as soon as we become aware of it. The corrected article will carry a note at the top explaining what was changed and when.
Clarifications
If content is technically accurate but misleading or ambiguous, we update the text to make the meaning clearer. Clarifications are noted at the top of the article when the change is substantive.
Updates
Market conditions, tax rules, and dealer information change over time. When we update an article to reflect new information (not to fix an error), we update the "last updated" date. Routine updates do not carry a correction notice.
Retractions
In rare cases where an article is fundamentally flawed or based on unreliable sources, we may retract it entirely. Retracted articles are replaced with a notice explaining why the content was removed.
How corrections appear
Material corrections are displayed at the top of the affected article in a clearly labelled notice that includes:
- The date of the correction
- A brief description of what was changed
- The reason for the change, where relevant
We do not silently edit published articles to fix errors. If we got it wrong, we say so.
How to report an error
If you spot a factual error, outdated information, or anything that doesn't look right, please let us know.
Report a correction
Email us at editorial@metalsalpha.com with:
- 1. The URL of the article in question
- 2. The specific claim or information you believe is incorrect
- 3. A source or evidence supporting the correction, if available
We review correction requests promptly. You should expect a response within two business days and, where warranted, a correction published within the same timeframe.
Accountability
The bylined author and our editorial team share responsibility for the accuracy of published content. Correction requests are reviewed by a member of the editorial team who was not the original author, to ensure objectivity.
